How it is worked out

The reference figure is the DGE reference value for protein per kilogram of body weight a day: 0.8 g for adults from 19 to 64, and 1.0 g from 65. From 15 to 18 it is 0.9 g for boys and 0.8 g for girls, and 0.9 g at 14. Without an age, the adult value applies. From 15 to 18 without a sex, the higher value applies. DGE bases this figure on normal weight. With a BMI over 25, the weight at a BMI of 25 for your height is used instead of your actual weight. The second figure uses 1.6 g per kilogram of your actual weight, which the openplate app uses for high-protein eating. Both are rounded to the nearest whole gram.
